Below is a collection of primitive 3d models that are useful as a starting point for building dome models using CAD software like AutoCAD, Truespace, Maya etc. 3D objects are in DXF format so you’ll need software that can handle a .dxf file.
Using CAD software can make designing dome structures of all types much more cost effective and efficient than going straight to the cutting board. Most of the illustrations on this site were done using 3d models rendered in Caligari Truespace.
To download the files, right click (in IE) and select “save target as” Alternatively to download all the files in one zip archive click here
Enjoy.
I''ll upload more mesh models as I build them, if you need anything specific leave a comment below and I''ll try to make something.

I'm trying to make a 3v 3/8 20m diameter dome. I'd like to get a custom cover made for it and was wondering if you could help me out with a cad design so I can give it to the canvas manufacturer to give them a better idea of what the dome will look like
Thanks!

Hello,
I'm new to Dome design. I tried to upload your trapezesium dome autocad example as a starting point (I'm learning Alibre), but my browser can't find your URL.
Has the example moved?

Thanks

You Need to right click and choose - save taret as- to download the dxf files one by one. There is a link at the top to download all of them in a single zip archive.
